Class Description: A dymanic and empowering course of study to develop and train your sensibilities through step-by-step practicing of the portraiture skills demonstrated in the work of the Old Masters, with gradual transitioning into contemporary and personal application. Course includes 15-30 minute art history lecture to begin each section of color history with exposure to finished works by Old Masters through contemporary artists using portraiture as their main vehicle of expression. In-depth color theory with historical context frames the structure of the course, with a palette evolving to correspond with advancing technology in hue, chroma, transparency, temperature, and value. Individual instruction, critique and material/technique demonstrations deepen practical understanding and strengthen skills in portraiture and self-expression.
