Artists are encouraged to expand their scale and surface (canvas (primed vs unprimed), linen, wood, paper, etc) while examining the effect of using grounds (color field and/or texture) on color and material application. Incorporating line, mark-making and compressed media (pigment sticks, charcoal, graphite, conte) with shape-making (stains, pours, wet-into-wet/bleeding techniques) and impact of adding mediums (copal, cold beeswax, walnut oil gel, mineral spirits, etc) to raw and tubed pigment are explored with purpose and intention. Artists can work with acrylic and/or oils. Group demonstrations on material and technique in oils with application to acrylic available on an individual basis.
